Warming Up Your Pellet Mill

How to warm up your pellet mill before operation?
Every time you want to make pellets, your pellet mill needs to be warmed up with an oil mixture repeatedly during 5 minutes approximately. The oil mixture should contain between 3-5kg raw material with 10% oil evenly. When the temperature reaches 80-100°C, then you can start making pellets.
The warm-up procedure is as follows:
- Place a bucket or a similar container under the exit chute of the machine. The material collected will be reused for warming up the mill.
- Turn the power on.
- Pour the oil mixture into the mill without overflowing the chamber.
- The die will be warm enough and ready for continous pellet production when vapor is released from the chamber and the discharged pellets are hard and compressed
When you purchase a new pellet press, the die will be sent to you in a pre-conditioned state. Therefore, you should grind-in the die before making pellets. Below you will find some instructions on how to grind-in your new die.
- Mix 20% fine sand, 65% biomass material (e.g. sawdust), and 15% waste oil evenly. The total weight can be 10% of the feed capacity.
- Place a bucket or another container under the discharge opening of the pelletizer. The discharged material will be fed back again into the machine for warming up.
- Turn the power on.
- Pour the oil mixture into the mill and do not overflow the chamber.
- Keep pouring the oil mixture and let it run through the die holes.
- Recycle the oil mixture and let the pellet mill heat up for 40-60 minutes. Your new die will be ready for making pellets.
